Job Description

With the challenge of going international, the Affiliate Window team is looking for a localization specialist that can both; bring experience to improving localisation tools and processes as well as tackle hands-on localisation of new products.

We’re looking for someone with experience working as part of product teams and being able to collaborate with Product Owners, developers and other stakeholders.

The job location will be in our office in central London. There will be requirement to travel regularly to Berlin where we have an R&D center.

This is a temporary, full time, 6 month contractor position.

KEY TASKS

  • Help improve the tools, methods and processes used to localise our user interface
  • Actively collaborate with cross-functional partners and with internal and external stakeholders to deliver best results (Product Owners, developers, UX team, Sales, Marketing, customers)
  • Translating user interface text and user documentation / Online Help from English into German or into another language (FR, PT, ES, IT, NL, SV, PL)
  • Updating the user documentation / writing new content (InDesign, HelpServer Content Management System)
  • Translation Coordination: request translations in 7 languages
  • Manage translations in Developer source code environment and “across” Language Server
  • Terminology management
  • Localization Testing, reviewing the UI localization against Internationalizaiton / Localization Checklist and Standards
  • Developing user interface wording in the source language (EN) with Manager Technical Documentation & Localization, UX and Product Owners
  • Ensuring consistency in style and terminology across the platform
  • Reviewing / Proofreading translations

Whilst the above is a guide to general expectation of the role, we expect this position to evolve allowing you greater scope to gain both knowledge and experience within the online and affiliate market place.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Experience in web portal / software localization
  • Experience in technical writing for web portals/software
  • Familiar with working in an agile environment (product development method)
  • Strong communication, writing, presentation and research skills to organize, create and prepare content and text for user guides / Online Help in a proper and logical sequence (in English)
  • Familiar with concept of i18n / localization readiness and l10n and best practices in software/web environment
  • Experience with usage of translation memory tools (across language server), InDesign and Photoshop (for screenshots), desktop publishing
  • An eye for details and consistency while also being able to make compromises and deliver results in a fast paced environment with multiple tasks and deadlines
  • Excellent knowledge of English and one other European language in this list: French, German, Italian or Spanish (speaking, writing, orthography)
  • Experience in translation-friendly authoring
  • Experience in translation coordination /working with localization vendors / translators
  • Thrives in a creative, fast-paced environment and works well under pressure.

  • Proactively identify and solve problems
  • Identify and document opportunities to improve processes and technologies
  • You will be expected to have good understanding of affiliate marketing is and what we do in the industry for any role within Affiliate Window.
