Job Description

We are currently recruiting for the position of Footwear Buyer, based in our Head Office in the heart of Central London. The overall responsibility of this role is to drive and develop a commercially exciting range across the Hobbs footwear range in partnership with the Buying Manager and creative team and in line with overall brand strategy.

The main responsibilities in this role will include:

• With the Buying Manager, drive pricing architecture by delivering a customer-focused plan to maximise the sales and profit of the product range in accordance with department targets.
• In conjunction with the Buying Manager, plan and formulate phasing, stories and end use in conjunction with design and merchandising, interpreting fashion trends and translating into a commercially viable product.
• Oversee range development, ensuring the product reflects the Brand strategy, the range is without gaps or duplication, and that the season is logically and commercially thought through.
• Continuously monitor market activity, including regular comp shops and gather market intelligence including pricing analysis from a wide variety of sources taking appropriate commercial action.
• Work closely with the design team to put together collections for each season by board-building and advising on seasonal colour palettes, textures and fabrics.
• Protect and develop the brands “handwriting”.
• Once collections have been signed off, discuss with designers & collate initial master colours, standards and distribute to supplier agents (where appropriate) and obtain prices, lab dips and trim approval of selected fabrics.
• Ensure that we use the correct suppliers for our ranges by placing proto sample and product with the appropriate supplier.
• Attend fit sessions in conjunction with QC.
• Building partnerships with suppliers and identify new partners ensuring we maintain the same high quality product, competitively negotiated prices and robust terms of contract.
• Successfully develop and implement the seasonal promotional plan in order to maximise the potential of seasonal opportunities.
• Build a strong synergy with marketing and insight to fully understand and analyse the customer’s needs in order to maximise profits & to provide a commercially viable range of products at competitive prices to grow market share.
• Manage and monitor the formula of critical paths and, in conjunction with merchandising, deliver availability against plan for each brand.
• Support in the implementation of the agreed strategy for flexibility that enables an in-season response to sales trends, profit plan and supply base changes
