Job Description

We are looking for the right person to join our team of roasters as we prepare to open our next roastery in the beating heart of Brixton. They will bring with them experience, personality, and passion. A zeal for coffee if you will. They will be roasting for London’s most discerning coffee drinkers, using a range of machines from factory new, to 1950’s artisan machinery.

Responsibilites:

  • Roast to, and set profiles on varying makes/sizes of roasters
  • Maintain production to designated schedule
  • Sample roast confidently and consistently for green purchasing
  • Learn and support department organisation and record keeping
  • Execute and record Q.C cupping protocols consistently
  • Overseeing the roast assistants
  • Carrying out general roaster maintenance

 

Pre-Requisites to Qualify:

  • At least two years of specialty roasting experience with good practical and theoretical knowledge.
  • Capable of roasting consistently without software assistance
  • Familiarity with Cropster Roast software
  • Passion for specialty coffee and desire to learn/engage
  • Self-motivated & able to work independently, and a team player
  • Methodical, focussed, tidy and organised under pressure
  • Can work to deadlines
  • Able to carry out heavy lifting on a daily basis
  • Can prepare espresso to a high standard
  • Right to work in the UK
  • Excellent written and spoken English & a good communicator

You’ll be at the forefront of London’s specialty coffee scene, with exposure to industry events and happenings. Garnering in-depth knowledge of the UK/EU’s leading green bean importers and our direct trade relationships with potential to travel to origin.

 

Position Details:

  • Full Time (40 hours per week) Mon-Fri, but may include some Saturdays and early starts/late finished
  • Available and willing to commit for 2 years
  • Based across two sites: Brixton & West Dulwich
  • Commencing no later than April 2016
  • Answering to Master Roaster and Director of Coffee
  • Salary DOE
